#WhyAlwaysMuhoro? Hashtag Seeks To Highlight DCI Boss’s Increasing “Popularity”

Caption: Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro. From hit-squads, to land-fraud, to racketeering and extortion, Ndegwa Muhoro’s name is all over. Why always you Ndegwa Muhoro? How long will you claim that it’s vendetta? Can a whole county have a vendetta against you?

We always remember the famous photo of footballer the Mario Balotelli scoring and revealing an a vest written “Why Always Me”. That was a striking message that will forever remain etched in our memories.

In Kenya, we have the Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro, whose name seems to appear in every dirty deal. It has become a daily routine for Muhoro to be linked to a scandal, and what may have started off as a joke, is turning out to be a big embarrassment.

What drew us to this suspicious character is a recent case whereby a Chinese illegal immigrant Wenjie Li whom the Office of the President had declared persona non-grata, is still operating in the country. Documents in our possession indicate that another Chinese investor who is currently under detention in China Guo Dong, had filed a case that was severely undermined by Muhoro.

In their infinite wisdom, the DCI in their bid to summon me, claim that my source of Intel is an Indian linked to Anglo-Leasing. Which then begs the question; how can my source be someone who is totally unrelated to the case at hand? Did it ever occur to Ndegwa Muhoro that I have anonymous sources who drop emails to my email?

I think it’s time Ndegwa Muhoro declared his interest in the Wenjie Li aka “Mr. James” case. He’s the one with the burden of proof, and not myself. Asking me to present myself to DCI headquarters for questioning over the case is a clear indication that Muhoro has a vested interest in the case.

Muhoro needs to know that he occupies a constitutional office and was independently vetted. He should not be confused with the Moi-era mentality, where that was a department at the hostage of status-quo.

But beyond Wenjie Li and the fact that he seems to have Bribed Muhoro so as to arrest Nyakundi, there seems to be more impropriety associated with the DCI boss. For instance Muhoro has been linked to extra judicial-killing and is said to have a hit squad that eliminates those who come in between his way to riches.

Muhoro has also been linked to land-fraud, the most prominent being his silly attempt at meddling in the Tatu City land case for personal gain. It is alleged that Muhoro pocketed Kshs. 50 Milion from an interested party, so as to undermine the outcome of investigations.

And while Tatu City is a big company with muscle to fight the embattled DCI boss, other smaller individuals are helpless. Land fraud is becoming a hot issue in Kenya, and Muhoro is right at the heart of it, using cases forwarded to him as an avenue for extortion. It is said that Muhoro tilts any land investigation to favour the highest bidders many who are thieves and part of a wider cartel working in connection with corrupt land officers.

Even before the dust had settled on Muhoro’s corrupt ways, Justice GBM Kariuki sensationally claimed that the same character Muhoro maliciously denied him the chance to be a Chief Justice by failing to provide him with a certificate of good conduct. The question is, why should an office that is the most corrupt be tasked with the all-important role of issuing good-conduct certificates?

But it seems that Ndegwa Muhoro has a vested interest in Wenjie Li’s Deportation saga. And he is invoking Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery’s name for a reason. Who is this Wenjie Li aka “Mr. James”? Why hasn’t he been deported despite an order from the Principal Secretary, Office of the President? Who is this foreigner that controls Ndegwa Muhoro, forcing him to summon bloggers? Why must a constitutional office-holder work at the behest of an immigrant whose stay in the country has already been declared as illegal?

A question to President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Jubilee establishment is if they are happy when they read about Ndegwa Muhoro daily, in relation to his professional impropriety?

First and foremost, President Kenyatta should ask Ndegwa Muhoro and Joseph Nkaissery why they blocked Wenjie Li’s Deportation. Summoning bloggers who are acting on anonymous tip-offs isn’t solving the problem. Muhoro must come clean.
