Uasin Gishu County Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei, on Thursday, November 28, tore into President Uhuru Kenyatta over what she termed as an abject failure.
Speaking during the Day Break show on Citizen TV, Shollei stated that Uhuru’s decision to launch the BBI report was evidence that he had fallen short of the expectations set out during his campaigns.
“I think if I read the BBI report and compare it with the Jubilee manifesto basically he is saying ‘I have failed’,” the legislator argued.
The Woman Rep has been a vocal opponent of the BBI, which she has repeatedly termed as illegal.
During the show, the legislator who is known for her unflinching support for Deputy President William Ruto, also claimed that the report was non-inclusive and that it was made by a select group of individuals.
University of Nairobi student leader Anne Mvurya, who was part of the panel hosted by, Trevor Ombija, echoed Shollei’s sentiments.
Mvurya stated that Uhuru, despite claiming to be a voice for the younger generation, was actually guilty of sidelining them.
“Ever since he became president, he has never met the youth. If he is truly our champion, he needs to sit down with us and let us tell him all our problems,” Mvurya stated.
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen caused a stir during the unveiling of the BBI report, after sharing opinions that echoed the young university president’s views.
“This program has been skewed to leave other people who have different opinions to speak what they want to say. If we are going to build an honest Kenya going forward, we must be able to put our views on the ground,” he stated.
