Sakaja arrested for flouting covid-19 rules at a Ladies Lounge

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja was arrested at a Kilimani bar  for breaking government directives meant to curb covid-19 spread.

Reports show that the senator was netted by officers who were acting on a tip off after good responsible members of the public passed them information that Ladies Lounge in Kilimani area was stil operating beyond 1.00am.

The self professed Super Sakaja was among a group of 10 people who were seated and drinking outside the bar.

Senator Sakaja was requested to leave but did not heed which prompted the officer to call her seniors.

Intoxicated Sakaja was later arrested when Deputy OCPD Adan Hassan joined the junior officers at the bar.

“Hon Sakaja became violent. He incited the others not to get away and was arrested,” reads part of police report.

Other three suspects refused to give out their names while others managed to take off from the scene.

It is reported that Sakaja refused to be given a free bond, he also refused to leave the cells as he threatened to have all the officers who had him arrested transferred in 24 hours.

Sakaja has been a loud critic of the controversial Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko whose leadership has been marked with drama and controversies.

He has been perceived as a sober and serious young leaders who at least stands greater chances of challenging Sonko for the top county job until this arrest.

Nairobi has witnessed poor leadership since the beginning of the devolved system of government. In the previous term when Sakaja served as a nominated Mp, the entire leadership of Nairobi was engulfed in endless fights, drama, poor leadership and corruption.

The latest developments on a young leader as Senator Sakaja is dashing hopes of the people of Nairobi. This comes as the government struggles to contain and stem the spread of covid-19 pandemic which has ravaged businesses and economies.
