Safaricom Purge: Peter Ndegwa now needs to look into the legal representation contracted by the firm

The late Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore

The purge at Safaricom Plc needs to truly clear a lot of dead weight that the firm has carried over the years.

One of those dead weights is the legal department which has hired some big named law firms that are a nuisance and an embarrassment in court cases.

Going by the argument by some Safaricom legal representatives, it appears, and indeed one can assume that Safaricom doesn’t really win cases, but uses that inglorious Kenyan pastime, bribery to do so.

You can imagine the damage this would hold if this data was made public.

Initially, Safaricom through legal advice of MMC Africa had refuted data leakage, in fact the petitioner in their case a Mr. Benedict had to be arrested alongside his accomplices who were Safaricom’s employees. While Benedict thought he had covered all his tracks during the case by reporting everything to the DCI, things didn’t go as planned. Read More
