Health CS Sicily Kariuki is under social media pressure to fire the National Hospital Insurance Board Chair Hannah Mureithi over claims of fraud, corruption and impunity.
The socials spent a better part of today doing the hashtag #RotInNHIFBoard confirming what we said many months ago that the board is rotten beyond redemption and firing Mr Geoffrey Gitau Mwangi, the former NHIF CEO alone and leaving the board intact was a grave mistake.
As we revealed in March this year, The National Hospital Insurance Fund Board members and senior officials own clinics that are being used to loot billions from the national insurer in the form of fake claims. Documents in our possession expose a rotten institution where everyone is on a looting spree, with impunity.
The board, comprised of sleeping individuals has watched as the former CEO Geoffrey Mwangi looted with some board members being partners in crime, a source from within the NHIF confirmed to us. Despite earning millions per month, the board has failed in its core mandate and a purge would be necessary.
Many Kenyans are lamenting that the board has watched, without doing anything as graft took over the fund. NHIF, Has been a cash-cow for a few individuals and the bosses at the helm have made it their habit to dance on poor Kenyans graves, as corruption becomes cancer in this country.
According to our sources, top NHIF bosses and board members led by Hannah Muriithi have formed shell companies that they are using to award themselves tenders and loot it to the ground despite president Uhuru Kenyatta, the state-house joker claiming that universal health-care is one of his big four agenda.
Other reports indicate that the funds are diverted into off-shore accounts by the top management officials and board members.
The asset recovery agency must move with speed and confiscate all these assets bought with poor Kenyans taxes, and demand an investigation on all real-estate firms and banks laundering money from state corporations and the private sector.
