President Uhuru Kenyatta is today set to meet elected leaders in Nyeri ahead of a major meeting with leaders from the region on Saturday, his aides announced on Friday.
Uhuru is scheduled to meet County Assembly members and Members of Parliament to reach common ground before the main meeting at the Sagana State Lodge.
While addressing a press conference, State House Spokeswoman Kanze Dena outlined the president’s itinerary but did not provide details on exactly who is expected to attend the Sagana meeting.
Even amidst the rising political temperatures in the mountain region, it was Dena’s transformation that stole the show at Sagana State Lodge, leaving the ever-keen netizens unable to ignore her changed looks since she got the plum government job.
Kanze, who was previously a news anchor that specialized in current affairs, political interviews and entertainment, resigned from Citizen TV in June 2018 after her appointed as the Deputy State House Spokesperson and Deputy Head, PSCU, a role she held for a six weeks before ascending to her current role of Spokesperson.
Unlike currently, at the time, Dena was still just a fairly slender lady who looked like she could barely hurt a fly.
“This is the same Kanze Dena who was at Citizen? Hard to believe,” noted one netizen.
“Chakula ya State House iko na mini jamani?,” wondered another.
“Pesa ni tamu. Kanze Dena eating lots of nyama sisi tukikula na macho,” another comment said.
On Uhuru’s meeting, despite Kanze failing to disclose the list of attendees, sources on the ground have confidently informed cnyakundi.com that more than 400 leaders will attend the meeting, among them Governors, MPs and Senators as well former elected leaders.
Others in attendance will be MCAs from county assemblies in Mt Kenya region who will be key in determining the fate of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
President Kenyatta convened the Sagana meeting to drum up support for BBI that has caused a storm in the Central region fueled by succession politics.
