The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) that is led by an acting puppet CEO Nicodemus Odongo is the subject of discussions on Twitter this afternoon.

The board chair Hannah Waitherero Muriithi who is also the unofficial CEO, is said to have looted the state corporation starting with a Ksh0.5 billion contract that she gave to MMC, the first such act when she took the mantle in April 2018.
Ms Muriithi despite being worse than Geoffrey Mwangi who was replaced in Dec 2018, in terms of corruption has continued to stay put because of powerful forces behind her.
The trained lawyer is a sister in law to powerful Interior PS Karaja Kibicho. She is married to Karanja Kibicho’s brother.
She boasts among her circles that she is ‘well-known’ at State House and that nothing can be done to her.
During her tenure, for the first time in many ways, many private hospitals especially those owned by Catholic Church have complained of delayed payments in capitation fees.

Kenyans are tired of the theft and the rush and punitive decisions taken by the board which is led by Hannah Muriithi, and have taken to social media to try to call for reforms.
Can the incoming Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe clean up this agency that robs the poor to pay bills for the rich once and for all?
