As revealed earlier, most of the fraud happened in the North-Eastern region, a place detectives have refused to focus on, raising eyebrows on their investigations.
The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) could have lost more than Sh10 billion in false medical claims, investigations have said.
Sources said the figure had been flagged as fraudulent and was part of about Sh50 billion paid to NHIF by Treasury as capitation premiums for medical cover for civil servants, Kenya Police Service, National Youth Service and Kenya Prisons Service since 2013.
Despite the fact that many of these clinics conspired with NHIF officials to double charge and charge maliciously, the corrupt NHIF officials and the board is heading “investigations” in a matter they are deeply involved.
The board, comprised of sleeping individuals has watched and cheered the looting of NHIF with the board members being partners in crime, a source from within the NHIF confirmed to us. Despite earning millions per month, the board has failed in its core mandate and a purge would be necessary.
The board has watched, without doing anything as graft take over the fund. NHIF, Has been a cash-cow for a few individuals and the bosses at the helm have made it their habit to dance on poor Kenyans graves, as corruption becomes cancer in this country.
According to our sources, top NHIF bosses and board members have formed shell companies that they are using to award themselves tenders and loot it to the ground despite president Uhuru Kenyatta, the state-house joker claiming that universal health-care is one of his big four agenda.
