The immediate former Speaker of the Bomet County Assembly Shadrack Rotich has been sworn in as deputy governor.
This follows his nomination by Governor Hillary Barchok to fill the position that has been vacant for the last four months.
Kericho High Court Judge George Dullu assisted by Bomet Senior Resident Magistrate Kikpkirui Kibelion administered the oath of office at Bomet Green Stadium on Wednesday.
Mr Rotich resigned as Speaker after the members of the county assembly approved his nomination, paving the way for his swearing in.
After taking oath of office, Mr Rotich said it is important for the public to be involved in the planning and implementation of development projects.
“Public participation is a key ingredient in development and we will ensure that the residents are brought on board when prioritising projects to be funded,” said Mr Rotich.
Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony, Narok Deputy Governor Chepkirui Aruasa, Bomet East MP Beatrice Kones, Nakuru Woman Rep Lizah Chelule, County Assemblies Forum Chairman James Wahome and 30 county Speakers were among guests who attended the function.
Governor Barchok took over office on August 8 this year following the death of his former boss, Dr Joyce Laboso, on July 29 at The Nairobi Hospital.
