The National Environment Management Authority has shut down an industry after the area residents sent Cyprian Nyakundi a report detailing how it was polluting the environment. The results of the exposure were instant, an action was taken in less than two days, after our expose.
In our expose, we had lamented how the NEMA officials and the moribund KAM were bribed by Endmor Steel to overlook pollution activities by the cartel company to ignore the cries of Syokimau residents.
The question that remains is: Must someone expose for NEMA to act?
Though NEMA knew the industry was a serial pollutant that used to operate at night, they ignored all this after receiving bribes.
After exposing the saga, leading to the shutting down of the industry, it seems word reached governor Alfred Mutua who showed interest in helping ( probably for PR) but we told his contact it was too late and Mutua can help fight other many industries polluting the environment.
