MaccCoffee Kenya Accused Of Mistreatment By Staff

MacCoffee Regional Director Abhishek Rana

An employee of MacCoffee Kenya has written to Cnyakundi.com accusing the firm of mistreatment and slave-like working conditions.

The management of the company is none other than Indians, who we covered so much last year. It is well known in Kenya that for those working with Indians, it is like 1619 every day.

“We are working under Indians Management whereby they don’t consider employees’ welfare.  It’s unfortunate that when one loses a relative s/he is not given compassionate days for mourning but end up being fired”, the staff wrote to us anonymously.

Further investigations revealed that ladies at the company do not enjoy maternity leave. The Indian management doesn’t hesitate to fire and replace any lady that falls pregnant.

The management has also been accused of forcing the staff to work during holidays, to add salt to injury, they are not paid for that.

“the contract says we should be aid twice for those days (holidays)”, revealed a staffer.

For those who seek to escape the slave steam-ship and opt to resign, they are not paid as required by the Kenyan law.

“Last year we opened up a cafeteria 3 ladies in which one of us got fired by word of mouth after two months.  Another lady gave a resignation letter but ended up not being paid”, the source stated.

We were reliably informed that right now in the cafeteria there are only two ladies remaining. Whereby if one has gone for her off the other lady works the whole day from 8am to 10pm with only 1 hour break in between at around 2-3pm.

Government and the people

Recently there was a case of a Chinese restaurant owner caning a Kenyan staffer for coming to work late. The level of abuse is exacerbated by the fact that the economy has been fucked u by the ruling elite and political class such that many chose to stick with the abusive and toxic workplaces than to resign.

However, many Kenyans youth have also forgotten that creation of jobs is the prerogative of the government and that the constitution in article 37 gives them the right to peacefully picket, demonstrate, petition for these things and more.

As youths in other countries such as Sudan, Tunisia and France seek for better governance, Kenyan youths are busy abusing each and sharing porn other online

As for MacCoffee Kenya staff, as for now they’ve been left with a bitter test in the mouth about their mistreatment.
