Caption: Barclays Bank of Kenya CEO Jeremy Awori who prefers playing Golf to handling customer complaints
This site recently exposed how a Barclays bank client lost Ksh 600,000 in a click in an alleged insider fraud scheme. We raised the issue, but the bank is yet to respond.
The Kenyan banking industry is built on quicksand and can collapse at any time. The overrated CBK Governor mainstream media brown envelope journalists like Terryanne Chebet and Wallace Kantai always praise has an uphill task.
The question is, why is the Barclays Bank of Kenya CEO Jeremy Awori mute despite these serious allegations? Is playing Golf more important than a customer’s complaint?
Our inbox keeps getting serious complaints and as opposed to Mainstream media that blacks out stories, we will always post and demand that the named institutions act.
Thank you for highlighting what is happening at Barclays bank. I am running 3 Business accounts with Barclays Bank of Kenya-Euro-KSH-USD and being honest if you are not keen lots of illegal deductions happen.
In the case of wrong international transfer, they don’t refund to the sender not unless you push them yet it should be automatic false transfer return to sender. In our Kenya Shillings account they kept on deducting interest, yet we are not servicing any loan with them. 2 days ago for 4 days I kept on depositing money and withdrawing but not reflecting on the online statement.
We were charged for Barclay’s local cheque deposit which shouldn’t be the case. When you complain at the branch, they always tell you the matter is being at the head office in Nairobi and when you call Nairobi they always request for time to investigate by contacting the branch and promise to call you in vain.
I feel sorry for the branch manager who has to do lots of explanation but cant really help. I can’t operate for more than 6 months without having issues with them. Please don’t hide my identity and if they need our account numbers, I can provide. Please let them know am with them only because the other banks don’t provide key in credit card facilities.
