Following an article we published on this site three months ago, an employee of Kansai Plascon Limited, formerly known as Sadolin Paints has contacted this site’s chief editor with more information on the rot within the company.
Some months back you wrote at expose on Kansai Plascon.
I wanted to write more on this and expose on some of the ill malpractices that happen in the company for specific the HR department.
It’s unfortunate the company does not have a HR department, the HR department is meant to take care of the employees interests but in this company the HR department is controlled by the “finance manager” (currently he’s the former finance director as when the company was taken over he had to tender his resignation as a director) He controls and gives orders for his own personal interest.
In the company itself there’s so much tribalism and nepotism which is very noticeable especially in the accounts department and some few other departments, as well as region offices in the country.
Employees are frustrated and they have no one on their side when it comes to having someone support them. Worst case was some months back some employees were forced to write a resignation where the HR manager was given strict instructions by the director to make sure certain employees are no longer employed by the company.
The employees were locked up in the boardroom and were literally forced to write a resignation. Is this justice really? Some procedures have to be followed when it comes to running a company. It’s very unfortunate that the HR manager in the company isn’t qualified for that position academic wise and neither is he registered with the IHRM for that case which this should be investigated.
We believe if the HR manager was registered this institution such malpractices wouldn’t be happening in the company and certain procedures would have been followed. The HR department should be a separate entity from other departments so as to be able to stand by employees when it comes to issues which involve the company versus the employees. Unfortunately in this case it’s run by the director who gives instructions which are in favour for him or what he feels is right.
We have tried getting our plea out to the top management in South Africa but it fell on deaf ears as the top management in Nairobi goes and convinces them that everything is in order and nothing of the sort is happening which is very unfortunate.
Thank you so much.
