Barely a month after the Wiper Party wrote to former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama asking him to explain why he should not face disciplinary action for violating the party’s constitution, through party Secretary-General Judith Sijeny, the party has today announced that the National Executive Council had opted to expel the senator following completion of investigations.
“NEC also adopts the Report of the WDM-K Disciplinary Committee that recommended the expulsion of the former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama. The Party shall move with speed to write to the Registrar of Political Parties to have Muthama’s name struck off from the Party register,” reads the statement sent to various newsrooms in part.
However, late last month, the former Machakos Senator contestant had stated that it was he who ditched the Wiper Party and at the same time declared support for DP William Ruto’s 2022 bid. Muthama said he ceased to be a Wiper Member the day he withdrew out of the Machakos senatorial in 2017.
“What business do I still have in wiper? I have no business to be in Wiper. I will ensure William Ruto becomes the 5th president of Kenya. And for the record, I am not being expelled from Wiper, I vomited wiper in 2017, excuse me. I am working round the clock to team up with Ruto to ensure that he is elected. We can only meet with Ruto to discuss serious issues.” He had said.
The party had given Muthama a 14-day ultimatum to respond to claims over alleged insubordination and defiance to the party ideologies.
He was accused of advancing the agenda of rival politicians, failing to perform his mandate as a Wiper NEC member and head of Nasa Coordination Committee, and spreading malicious propaganda and actively spreading hatred among the rank and file of the party membership.
Muthama has stated that he will make it his business to form a new party to battle it out with the Kalozo Musyoka-led outfit. According to Muthama, his new political outfit will field candidates in all electoral positions, namely; presidential, gubernatorial, senatorial, MP and MCA positions.
