US President Donald Trump has often resisted immigration into the US.
Since he ascended to power in 2016, Trump has signed executive orders banning emmigrants from some countries. Islamic countries have borne the brunt.
But the big crackdown was yet to come. Targeting Immigrants that are already in USA, the raids will begin tomorrow, Sunday.
Some media reports from the US indicates that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) police in some cities such as in Los Angeles, California began the raids as early as Tuesday.
The raids which targets undocumented immigrants will officially begin on Sunday and targets more than 2040 people.
Kenyans often move to the US in search of greener pastures due to the economic hardships at home.
Some of them are undocumented as they play cat-and-mouse games with authorities after the expiery of their stay, most often, a result of lying about their real motive of going to the US.
US has recently restricted its VISA rules to include requirements such as ones social media information.
It is not easy, in fact it is complicated. But Kenyans can demand quality governance at home instead of shifting abroad. The only people is that life is short and shiny things, even though not good, still attracts Africans.
Ignorance is a bad thing.
According to an analysis by the Migration Policy Institute, more than 12 million people were “deported” — either removed or returned — from the US during the Clinton administration. More than 10 million were removed or returned during the Bush administration. Far fewer — more than 5 million — were removed or returned during the Obama administration.
The Trump administration has not yet deported as much as the previous administrations. ICE deported 95,360 illegal immigrants from the interior of the United States in 2018, up from 81,603 in 2017.
Anyways, some of your relatives will be coming home soon, if not soon, later.
Let’s work for a better Kenya.
