Is Royal Mabati Going Down?

After years of endless customer complaints, the end could be nigh for local iron sheet manufacturer, Royal Mabati Factory Limited.

As per emerging reports on the ground, all might not be well at the company led by controversial Managing Director (MD) Moses Ikinya Kang’arua with strong suggestions of an incoming downfall being raised.

Speaking to this site’s Chief Editor via his official (and verified) Facebook page, an insider at the troubled firm exclusively disclosed that the management recently embarked on a massive layoff exercise suspected to be part of a discreet downsizing process.

Over 60 employees are said to have been fired on Monday, 4th April 2022, with more expected to be shown the door in the coming days.

At the moment, only their Main Branch in Mlolongo is in full operation.

Our source went on to reveal that the dire situation is quite similar at their alleged sister company “Heritage Mabati” which is reportedly owned by Royal Mabati Director Moses Ikinya Kang’arua.

“Hi Nyakundi, advise the public that Royal Mabati is closing down.

Yesterday they fired over 60 employees and have closed all the branches apart from the main Branch in Mlolongo.

Heritage Mabati Mills is also owned by the same Director of Royal Mabati,” the Facebook message reads.

In recent years, the once highly-rated iron sheets maker has been rocked by a wave of negative reviews from disappointed clients.

The customer care of the firm appears dysfunctional as no complaint is dealt with to completion.

They range from:

  • Late delivery of iron sheets,
  • Fake iron sheets,
  • Wrong gauge iron sheets,
  • Cheap iron sheets being mixed with the original ones,
  • Refusal to refund clients

In September 2019, the firm’s MD Moses Ikinya Kang’arua was in court to answer to charges of Ksh900 million tax evasion.

He was released on Sh3 million bond.

The firm is fraudulent and engages in PR and silencing criticism online.

It is easy to take clients’ money, and then not deliver iron sheets.
