Following the unfortunate killing of a young JKUAT student in JUJA Town, CNYAKUNDI.COM sought for students who have undergone the same experience under the notorious gangs who are believed to be working together with law enforcement officers.
Many students have submitted their experiences which we promised to share through our strict anonymity policy and help create awareness on the plight of students in the town.
First up was a young man who saw death with his very own eyes after he and his two friends fell victim to the dreaded killers.
Here is his story below.
“Working with your computer for side hustles is one of the major ways for campus students in making money. Sometimes you find yourself so caught up on your computer until it’s so late. That’s when you remember there are 24hrs working food joints.
So this fateful day I decided to go, I finished my assignments and went to go get food. I was with 2 friends.
Everything was good until we met these two masculine men who had knives as their killer weapons. One of them held a knife on me demanding for my phone.
I didn’t resist since he looked no nonsense. I was so perturbed. I even thought my life was over. After taking all I had including my food they ran away.
I thanked God for saving my life.
The craziest part, and what made me really furious is when I heard of a killing from the same damn people. A week after.
A freshman lady who had just got to campus was murdered. How did the loved ones really receive the news?.
There have been a whole bunch of stories from comrades who have been molested by the thugs all over campus. Students leaders led a peaceful strike which was cut short by teargas from the police. They looked so happy harassing students who were demonstrating from the same.
You wonder what country is this we are living in when guys who are supposed to be protecting us turn against us. It is so sad. Help us spread the message since #StudentsLivesMatter.
Juja is so insecure whereas cops are always on their patrol. And you wonder what they patrol? It is crazy over here. Someone please help us.”
This site’s chief editor Cyprian Nyakundi and the entire team extremely condemn such acts and urge the Director of Public Prosecutions together with the Director of Criminal Investigations and the Inspector General to treat the Juja Town insecurity matter with absolutely urgency since comrades are undeservedly losing lives everyday.
