I Regret Choosing To Work At Toyota Kenya: More Suffering Employees Speak Out

Toyota Kenya Management: The team is led by the Managing Director and is made up of General Managers responsible for different divisions

Following the publishing of a series of articles containing information that brought to light the hidden dark side of Toyota Kenya, more staff members have gathered the strength to speak out against the organization.

From the latest scoop in our possession, a vast majority of employees are in huge relief that this platform has finally provided an outlet for them to vent their frustrations blamed on poorly-run management which they claim to be propelled by selfish interest and personal gain.

In the submissions shared under this post, a current and former staff member of the company confessed to the toxic working environment previously reported by their colleagues and also gave a fresh lay-down of how the Human Resource (HR) department led by Adrian Stelzer has become a major source of depression for jobholders at the car distributor.

Mr Stezler is known to issue dismissal letters without engaging the suspended personnel in a fair trial.

In fact, any hearing accorded is simply part of the formality process of kicking out anyone labelled as a “rebel”.

This has left a section of the desperate employees having second thoughts about committing their futures to the company despite having joined with big dreams and hopes of cementing a long-term role.

“Hi, Nyakundi,

After reading through your article I feel that after multiple attempts of speaking against the misgivings happening in this company with zero efforts to remedy the issues afflicting me and my fellow colleagues, I am confident this is the only outlet that can yield any reasonable change here.

Contrary to the past, Toyota Kenya has become one of the most toxic working environments I have worked at.

The toxicity has bred unprofessionalism by management like never before.

They use risk and compliance to settle scores on employees.

The HR Manager ratifies this by issuing dismissal letters without engaging personnel in a fair hearing.

Any hearing accorded is a formality process but the eventual outcome is always firing.

It is unfortunate to have to say this because when I joined this organisation, I thought I work here until retirement.

But the unbecoming and unintegral environment here makes me believe I’m far better off not working here.

I’d rather work at a small organization that has solid structures of integrity and professionalism than natures growth

And as much as the grass is greener where you water it, the faucets here are dry.

This is not out of malice or a disgruntled employee rant.

What I yearn for is change.

Where Toyota Kenya will be a place where people love to work,” our first source writes.

“Hello Mr. Nyakundi,

I saw read your article and my expression was finally people are opening up!

I worked there for almost 7 years, it was a battlefield.

Your supervisor is your fate master, they don’t like you you are in problems.

The other thing that always baffles me and gave us ulcers.

Why would a South African be a national sales manager in their truck division?

The guy was toxic.

First it was the GM HR, then NSM Hino acha nikuambie ilikua machos.

If I write more they will know who is doing this but depression is real in Toyota Kenya,” the second source adds.

We encourage more employees at the company to fearlessly come out and unearth deeper details of what is happening at their workplace.

This will help trigger action from relevant authorities who are rumoured to be already pocketed by the suspects.

Their mouths are too full to speak, but ours are not.

We shall be keenly following this developing story with a view to publishing subsequent updates on how things pan out at the company.
