Fourways Junction Estate: From Murders to attempted Kidnappings

Cnyakundi.com is concerned about growing insecurity in Fourways Junction Estate along Kiambu Road. Recent events that have been unfolding inside the estate walls have left some residents distasted at the quality of the security provided by the Estate management.

For example, in 2019, a man and his mistress were charged with the murder of one Ms Kamangara. The murder had occurred inside the man’s house at the same Fourways Junction Estate.

Conversely, our site through investigations has discovered an extortion ring that is using fake DCI letterheads to abduct, steal and extort tenants at the Fourways Junction Estate. It is suspected that the Estate’s security is in cahoots with some members of the public and some tenants to run their racketeering activities.

Specifically, an Ambrose Kariuki, several men and some tenants residing in the estate’s Daisy Court 3 have been implicated in a recent botched kidnapping attempt. (Ambrose Kariuki is the Estate’s Head Security.)

Fourways Junction Estate Head of Security , Mr Ambrose Kariuki

In the isolated incident reported by an anonymous source located at Thindingua Police Station, a compromise in the Estates security almost caused the kidnapping of a tenant residing in Daisy Court 3. In the incident that occurred on January 4, 2022, at 1.39pm, the young man narrowly escaped death and an attempt of kidnapping by jumping off from the 2nd floor of his apartment house.

Reportedly, for 20 minutes, two mysterious men dressed in suits repeatedly banged at the door and tried to force entry at the tenant’s house. Through the apartments door’s peephole, the tenant saw two unidentified men dressed in suits.

Attempts by the tenants to get a reasonable cause of the erratic visit from the men failed as the men continuously knocked threatening him that they were DCI officers. A look outside from the apartment’s kitchen window revealed that another group of men dressed in the same way had parked a car in his allocated parking space.

These events prompted the tenant to call the main gates office security to enquire about the identity of these men. As a normal security protocol, the main gate security office has to inform a tenant when they are expecting visitors. To his surprise, neither the details of the men nor the car which they were driving had been booked.

Paranoid, as most of us would be in such a situation, and sensing some sort of danger the tenant immediately contacted an acquaintance who is also a law enforcement officer. After describing the people and car, the contact informed him that they did not pass off as policemen and therefore he should report to the closest Police Station ASAP. It is then that the young man jumped from the balcony of his apartment on the 2nd floor.

Luckily, he developed minor injuries. Ironically, he managed to bypass the accomplices who were waiting in the car parked at the apartment’s parking lot. A clear indication, that the men did not know the name and face of the person they were seeking to arrest.

A further follow up by the tenant reveals that the Estate’s Head of Security informed him that the men are known ‘DCI officers’. He further managed to talk to one of the men but he insistently refused to inform the reason for the arrest. A clear violation and disregard of Article 49 of the Constitution of Kenya. A mistake that no policeman would do.

After a month of investigation, Cnyakundi.com reports that the public should be aware of men masquerading as DCI officers running kidnappings and possible theft rackets in Kiambu. These men claim to work at DCI Headquarters office B-69. Furthermore, the men refuse to leave any contact details about them. The men threaten their victims by informing them about several complaints from their neighbours about them. Furthermore, they tell the victims that they have arrest summons issued against them. We have identified that the men also use a 0721808745 mobile number registered to Grace Kibugi. Sometimes they ride on vehicle KCG 940K.

The men are likely criminals masquerading as DCI officers. From our investigations, we have discovered that even police officers at Thindingua police station are not aware of the men masquerading as DCI officers.

A follow up by police officers and the tenant’s lawyer reveal that Ambrose Kariuki seems to play a part in insecurity happening at the Fourways Junction Estate. Mr Kariuki at one point informed the tenant that the ‘DCI officers’ had left arrest summons at the estate’s main gate office. However, a follow up from the tenant’s lawyer reveals that Mr Kariuki has since refused to hand over the said summons. A further follow up from Police officers and CID investigators reveal that Mr Ambrose has been at the forefront of obstructing justice as he has refused to hand over the security books to these investigators for further scrutiny.

As the Fourways Security Office phone is malfunctioning, cnyakundi.com could not access further information from its owners.

Is a security breach to blame for such an incident? or is Kiambu county generally an insecure area?

It is suspected that mysterious men masquerading as the DCI even have fake badges and identity cards. The reports are not far from the truth as in December 2021, the Dailies reported an isolated incident where HSC Dennis Itumbi had been abducted and tortured by unknown men as he was leaving A Popular shopping complex in Thindigua.

Additionally, in early February 2022, several media channels have been awash with updates of conjurers and uncouth Police officers. Recently, two suspects masquerading as Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission officers were arrested at WanderJoy Party Headquarters along Kiambu Road. The men were seeking an audience with proprietor Isaac Andere over a purported land fraud case.

Conversely, on February 6, 2022, four rogue DI officers attached to DCI Langata were arrested by serious crimes detectives on allegations of robbery with violence. It is suspected that the DCI officers had abducted a man at NextGen Mall on the same day and forcefully extorted him.

The blog is urging DCI Kinoti and IG Mutyambai to weed out rogue officers and beef up the security situation in Kenya.

More to follow as the events unravel
