When we began highlighting the ongoing theft at the Sports, Arts & Social Development Fund, most Kenyans did not believe it.
But with the emergence of a memo to federations informing them that money has run out, it is time to break down the theft that has been happening there and why Kenyan sports is now a curse to this nation.

Part of the theft at the fund starts with the Acting CEO Wambugu.
This is a person who loves to take the fund and government to court and is still retained as the acting CEO.
This has given him self entitlement to the public funds at the fund and can do whatever he feels like and wants to do.
He has been claiming mileage allowance for the last three years and yet he uses a government vehicle, which he keeps on changing number plates.
This chap is just pathetic, and right now at the fund, he has got no friends and people are wondering why he still wants to apply for the position of CEO, after bringing the fund and sports federations to their knees.
The Auditor-General should, with urgency, move into the Sports, Arts and Social Fund at Flamingo Towers and start looking at the right places.
For example, start with Wambugu’s salary statement and check that against the mileage allowance.
Then find out if he uses his own car or a government car.
Look at the Government car mileage records and trips to where it’s supposed to have gone and see if the official government car mileage is adding up.
This is the first clue that we are pointing out, as we will share more soon.
While at the fund, check the files in his office and check the dates of when the paperwork came in.
Again, you will find that some paperwork is being held for purposes of being able to play with the books.
The Safari Rally starts this weekend, check on the per diem of Wambugu for this year’s event and also last year’s event.
Last year’s records will be of interest, as he decided to sleep and operate from the official hotel booked by the fund for the event in Naivasha, but he still continued earning his daily night out per diem.
Check the bank statements for the event and while at it get records of rooms that were used and hotel records at Enshapai Resort, Naivasha.
This is the first series of theft that we have pointed out to help the auditor general and the DCI in putting this criminal behind bars.
Next, we shall outline other forms of theft within the fund and expose those involved, including Veronica, whose international trips we shall list down – including those that they took together with Wambugu as they accompanied various national teams out of the Country.
