Titled chronology of events in the harassment of one Harish Ramniklal Mawjee by the founder of Victoria Bank Kanji Damji Pattni.
The reason Kanji might want Harish dead is also given.
On Friday 27 09 2019 at approximately 21:00 DCI Timon Melly arrived at our residence with 4 other colleagues in plain uniform armed with AK47 weapons without a search warrant or an arrest warrant. He was refused entry into our residence until and unless he obtains official orders from the court. Uncertain how they located us as the residence is registered to Harish’s late father (recently deceased on 29/06/2019).
The following day, Harish received a telephone call from Parkland Police Station from the OCS inviting him to the station at 14:00 for a chat. He attended with his attorney Isaac. DCI Timon Melly was there to receive him instead of the OCS. He immediately asked two officers to arrest Harish and confine him without informing him the reason why and without preparing a formal charge sheet. The attorney was asked to arrange a cash bail of KSH 50,000 which was arranged but later refused for reasons unknown. His medical history was presented at the station and it too was ignored. Isaac was told by Melly that any family members or friends that attempted to visit him will be arrested too.
He was deprived of timely meals, sleep and medical assistance throughout custody.
On Monday 30 09 2019 he was taken to Milimani Courts though nothing was filed and was taken back to Parklands Police Station. The ODPP was made aware and in due course instructed Parklands Police Station to release him on a KSH 20,000 bail pending further investigation into why he has been held illegally at the station. Parklands Police Station refused him bail, despite the orders, suggesting that the Director of DCI doesn’t want to release him for reasons unknown and unclear. The ODPP asserted that he must be presented in court the following day as they do not want him to die in unlawful custody. He was presented to the court on Tuesday 01 10 2019 for a bogus charge of making threats to Mr Kanji Damji Pattni and released on bail at around 16:00. He pleaded not guilty. Hearing on 04 11 2019.
Mr Kanji Damji Pattni is the founder of Victoria Commercial Bank and is a very influential business man with political connections. He is also a relative of the accused: Harish’s sister Indira is married to Kanji’s eldest son Arvind. Harish’s wife, Hasmita, is Kanji’s step cousin. Kanji’s father and Hasmita’s father are step brothers by the same father. Kanji was born from the first marriage whilst Hasmita’s father was born from the second and final marriage. Hasmita’s father was to inherit 50% of his late father’s fortune however his step nephew Kanji sent him into exile.
31 01 2019 Harish was admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi after collapsing in the bathroom in the early hours of the morning. He had suffered from approximately 3 strokes. He had a lot of internal bleeding inside his skull causing immense pressure to his brain. He was admitted to have an emergency neurosurgery with a 50% chance of survival or a high possibility of being permanently brain damaged. The surgery was successful with very minimal damage to his brain, if any. He was asked to take a prolonged rest and to be kept free from any stress or trauma.
He suffers from Type 2 Diabetes and takes 3 tablets with 3 meals a day. He also suffers from Hypertension and he takes 2 tablets daily. He also regularly takes pain killers to assist with his recovery.
The reason they might want Harish dead
Harish’s brother Bipin Mawjee works closely with Kanji Damji Pattni’s son Yogesh Pattni and is financially entwined with him. Harish’s father recently died on 29 June 2019 without a will (leaving behind a vast estate). Harish is the eldest child. It is quite obvious that they wish to dispose of Harish for material gain and hence several conspiracies against him are in full swing. It’s a shame that they are using the police as props to stage this whole affair
