Dirty Deal Gone Wrong Leaves Man Dead In His Kilimani Apartment

Kevin Omwenga: Nairobi businessman killed in his apartment

News broke out on Saturday morning that a youthful Kenyan businessman identified as one Kevin Omwenga was found dead in his Kilimani apartment in what seems to have been a dirty deal gone terribly wrong.

According to initial reports, Mr. Omwenga, a car seller who runs a yard named Lystra Motors in Lavington, Nairobi, was shot dead in his bedroom by some guy only named as Robert Ouko.

Ouko is believed to have been a close associate if not a friend to Omwenga.

The gun which killed Omwenga and which has since been recovered from the crime scene reportedly belonged to a popular underground figure, with statements conflicting between “Wash-Wash Leader” Steve Oduk and his counterpart Chris Obure.

Known for his flamboyance and show of opulence, Steve Oduk was once arrested in September 2019 after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) raided Plan 254 Club in Kilimani Nairobi where they found fake US dollars and gold bars.

Months earlier, in May the same year, Oduk aka Lucas Mbadi was among those nabbed by detectives. At the time, he did not have a national ID and gave his name as Stephen Mark, only adding “Oduk” when he was charged at the Milimani courts.

Just two years earlier, Oduk had once again made it to the headlines when he reportedly organized a Ksh 2.5 million baby shower for his girlfriend Aeedah Bambi, which was attended by over 200 guests, including radio and television presenters, businessmen, political aspirants, musicians and those in showbiz circles.

In attendance were businessmen Paul Kobia, Jared Otieno, Babu Owino, Fundi Frank, Chris Obure, Owago Onyiro among others.

This is a developing story, we shall publish subsequent updates as they come through.
