Deteriorating situation at ILU (Formerly NIST)

I trust you and your team are well.

Once again the concerned students and members of staff at ILU wish to appreciate the expose that you do to highlight the various state of affairs in various organizations – Case in point – The international Leadership University( Formerly NIST).

In recent media reports it has emerged that the Honorable CS-Education has tried to intervene in the situation at The UON. We wish that the Ministry and the Commission for University Education would also exercise ts authority in the management of Private Universities in Kenya as these educational institutions affect the lives and plight  of many Kenyans as well.

As you continue highlighting the ills that go on at the International Leadership University, we urge you not to tire as to a great extent this has borne some fruit.

•       Dr. Samuel Watuka Muindi & Prof. Eric Masinde Aseka who had previously been mentioned did eventually leave the University out of shame and the fact that they              could not stand the heat due to the truth that came out in the previous exposes.
•       Prof. Aseka has since moved to Africa International University, this being through a favour by one of his cronies,the VC of the same University – Prof. Dankit                        Nassiuma. It should be noted that Prof. Aseka and Dr. Muindi were in cahoots with Prof. Nassiuma in the previously intended merger with AIU.

At this point in time, the greatest challenge that remains at ILU is the management style of Dr. Benjamin Musyoka and Ms. Catherine Mwihaki Ngambi. We are still grappling to understand the questionable relationship between these two given that Dr. Musyoka’s wife – Judith stays in Kitui and rarely comes to the Nairobi.

Dr. Musyoka and Ms. Ngambi have colluded to oust Governing Council Members who do not agree with and have questioned their style of leadership only to proceed and reconstitute a new Governing Council that retains their puppets and cannot question their intentions.

It should also be noted that Dr. Musyoka does not follow the protocol and has gone ahead to recruit Prof. Jeremire Araka who was previously at St. Augustine University of Tanzania and does not adhere to the Statement of Faith of Campus Crusade/ILU(NIST).

The irony with this appointment is that there are several qualified personnel who have served selflessly at ILU that would fit the role, namely-Dr. James Ndung’u, Dr.Ambilike Mwangomo, Dr. Levina Mulandi, Prof. David Ngaruiya, Dr. Mary Mwangi, Charles Nandain, Rev, Munyere among others.

This appointment is a big mockery to the staff members who have served the University selflessly and relentlessly without full of monthly salaries while the VC continues to be paid regularly goes with big perks from the Regional office of Campus Crusade office in Harare under the leadership of Dr. Farai Katsande and the head of Life Ministry Kenya, Mr. Arnold Nzova.

This is a big shame for an institution that purports to hold christian values and does not remit its statutory obligations such as PAYE, Sacco deductions, Pension contributions for staff who have since left and even paying electricity bills to KPLC among other obligations.

Some of the ills continuously being committed by Dr. Musyoka and Catherine Ngambi include:-

1. Filling the institution with interns who are being exploited by being paid peanuts whilst doing even personal work and class assignments for Catherine Ngambi who doubles as the Administrator in charge of almost all areas at the University and an undergraduate student.
2. Attempting to abolish the subsidized staff lunch which is probably the only daily meal enjoyed by some.
3. Using over KES. 700,000.00 on expenditure that was neither approved by the University Senate or Management Board while undertaking “Substandard Repairs” (Pictures attached).
4. Operating the University without the LIA, thereby putting the integrity of qualifications received from ILU in question.
5. Use of images that do not belong to ILU for advertisement at the University’s entrance(Pictures attached).
6. Upward revision of Catherine Ngambi’s salary after being made in charge of:-

•         Finance & Administration/Operations Docket of the University
•         Procurement Docket
•         Human Resource Docket
•         Facilities Management
•         Students Records Management

 

This is therefore an urgent plea to Dr. Farai Katsande and Arnold Nzova together with the Leadership of Campus Crusade for Christ in the USA (The Founding organization) to step up and uphold their integrity and that of Campus Crusade for Christ and resole this situation.
