Dead Men Tell No Tales: Kenyans React To Caroline Kangogo’s Controversial Death

CAPTION: Wanted Police Constable Caroline Kangogo who was on Friday confirmed dead

Wanted policewoman Caroline Kangogo was on Friday morning confirmed dead after her body was reportedly found at her parents home in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

According to Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya, Kangogo died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head at the compound where she grew up in Nyawa village, Tambach division in Keiyo.

Her parents are said to have called police who found Kangogo’s body in a pool of blood inside the bathroom.

“We are told the mother found her holding a pistol which she used to commit suicide in the bathroom in their rural home,” Commissioner Natembeya told the press.

According to Natembeya, her parents were not aware she was had travelled home.

Moments after the news of Kangogo’s death was broken, a graphic image of the lifeless corporal began doing rounds on social media and immediately sparked a debate.

Kangogo still wore her yellow hood at the time of the incident and a gun lay next to her right arm.

These are the same clothes she wore when she killed two men on July 5, 2021.

CAPTION: A viral gorry image showing the scene of Kangogo’s death

From the picture the gorry sight painted, some netizens were left unconvinced that it was indeed Caroline Kangogo who took her own life away.

Suggesting that perhaps, there might be more to the story than meets the eye.

In one such comment featured below, a Kenyan on Twitter questioned the position of the gun on her hand as well as the position of her crossed legs.

“Hapa tunacheswa. Caroline Kangogo has been carefully executed,” he wrote.

Another noted that unlike in many other such scenarios of suicide by the bullet, in Kangogo’s case, there was no blood splatter on the wall.

Corporal Kangogo was wanted to help in investigations into the murder of a police officer in Nakuru and a former policeman in Juja.

Detectives say the Nakuru based cop shot dead her colleague, constable John Ogweno, on Monday, July 5 and fled to Juja where she allegedly killed Peter Ndwiga, 32, in a hotel room.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations termed the policewoman as a rogue, armed and dangerous individual and had warned Kenyans to be on the lookout for her.

According to the sleuths, the deceased was involved in shady deals with her colleagues, who were protecting her.

A source claimed Kangogo was part of two crime syndicates involved in extortion, robberies and protection of politicians and businessmen in the vast Rift Valley.
