A brief Introduction on how Safaricom scammed Transcend Media; defeated justice

Safaricom Chief Customer Officer Sylvia Wairimu Mulinge (Left) and CEO Peter Ndegwa,

A few weeks ago, I told you my theory about how Safaricom Plc wins cases against Innovators whose intellectual property rights it has infringed.

It was a theory by then, but now the truth is about to be revealed as we have got; a 200-paged document showcasing how the rogue Telco stole the intellectual property of one Transcend Media Group Limited and almost got away with it.

The difference between Transcend’s and other young innovators whose intellectual properties have been stolen, and Safaricom has bribed the respective judges to win those cases, is that Transcend had a lot of money to defend itself in court. Transcend caused more havoc by writing to Vodafone Group Services Limited. This prompted Safaricom to rush to court ‘by filing a suit at the Milimani Commercial Court, Admiralty division in HCCC No. 228 of 2016 seeking to gag Transcend purportedly on grounds of publication of injurious falsehoods’. The court dismissed the injuction.

Furthermore, in another of my articles, I warned Ethiopian Youth that Safaricom setting up shop in their territory wasn’t a thing to be celebrated all through, Safaricom exploits weaknesses in the law and the judiciary to scam innovators off their inventions.

However, despite the overwhelming evidence against it, Safaricom has somehow managed to win all cases in court.

How is this possible?

BILLIONAIRE: Safaricom chief corporate affairs officer Stephen Chege. In October 2021, Vodacom Group appointed him its Group Chief External Affairs Officer.

The four billionaires

At the top management of Safaricom, sits some four Methuselas who have been with the firm for longer. The four including the famous Safaricom Killer Director Sylvia Mulinge are billionaires, thanks to an oversight by the e-Citizen portal. It is now common knowledge that the e-Citizen portal was hijacked by private interests who pocket all the fees and have a leeway to sell the data belonging to Kenyans to the highest bidder. has learnt that the huge amount of money in the hands of the four, said to be in excess of Sh75 billion is enough to bend any course of justice.

This powerful financial force behind the firm’s rogue managers, who execute decisions to steal intellectual property and do other illegal things are fabulously wealthy, can even buy the whole of Nairobi police stations and influential judges.

Truth be told, with that amount of money, Safaricom and its top echelons have bought loyalty in the security services, i.e. the Judiciary, the National Police Service, and other top government officials and institutions such as the Communication Authority of Kenya, Competition Authority and other relevant bodies in the Telco sector.

Lucille Aveva, Director Customer Obsession, Safaricom. On May 4th 2021, Lucille Aveva was appointed Director of Customer Obsession. According to the statement, she was to perform roles previously performed by Chief Customer Officer Sylvia Mulinge and report directly to the CEO. This meant that the Safaricom killer Director Sylvia Mulinge could be ceremonial or her post be declared redundant. But she was saved by her billions and godfathers within the government of Kenya. They helped her defeat crime, they propped her up when she was sacked.

It is therefore very hard to defeat the behemoth that is Safaricom in court because of the above reason.

Transcend tried and ‘won’, but they did not win in court. According to information received, the firm was paid off to keep silent about its creative work that was stolen.

To suppress information, Safaricom paid off and instructed the Kenya Law Reports not to include the case against it in the reports. has learnt that the case files were destroyed, burned, expunged and obliterated from the court records.

Safaricom and Transcend agreed on a compensation plan that was too juicy for the Media firm to refuse.

The above is just one way to showcase how big and powerful the Telco is and the lengths it can go to defeat justice. Some Kenyan youths have experienced this and they know better.

Billionaire: Nicholas Mulila, Chief Security Officer, Safaricom Plc

The whole BLAZE BYOB was the creative works of Transcend Media Group Limited, they submitted it as ‘Next Nation’.

Safaricom flouted procurement rules, took the entire proposal submitted by Transcend and gave it to Saracen Media Limited which was working in association with Fieldstone Helms Limited.

One would hope that the mighty United Kingdom would come to the rescue of the downtrodden. But the rotten nature of Kenya’s politics stems from that country. This is why Vodafone Group Services Limited, through its legal Director Nick Vidovich chose to go with an injunction against Transcend, which backfired anyway, instead of putting a stop to the emerging corruption, procurement malpractice and Intellectual property theft by Safaricom.

“With a ‘warchest of over Sh75 billion, the top four staff have held the new CEO Peter Ndegwa hostage,” a analyst told
